If you have an ES Windows impact garage door with a failing roller, hinge, cable, or seal, we can match the part to your exact series and install it, usually within the same week. Installed parts typically run $95 to $420 depending on whether we’re replacing a single roller assembly or a full cable-and-spring set. Most Fresno homeowners discover the problem the same way: a grinding sound on the track, a door that hesitates halfway up, or a seal that has cracked into pieces along the bottom edge after a few Central Valley summers.
We’re an independent Fresno door and window company, not an ES Windows dealer. That matters because we’re free to stock both OEM ES Windows hardware and quality aftermarket equivalents, and recommend whichever fits your door and your budget honestly.
Which ES Windows Models This Applies To
ES Windows builds impact-rated garage doors across several series lines, and the hardware is not universal from one series to the next. The tracks and roller profiles on a heavier ES Windows impact door rated for wind-borne debris will differ from a standard series door on the same house. Before you order a replacement part, check the inside of the door panel near the bottom corner for the ES Windows data plate. It will list the series and build date, and that information tells us exactly which roller diameter, hinge gauge, and cable length your door was assembled with.
The compatibility gotcha we see most often in Fresno: homeowners buy a generic roller online that fits the track, but the stem is the wrong length for their ES Windows hinge. The door runs for a few weeks, then the roller walks out of the hinge and scores the track. On ES Windows doors, the roller stem length and wheel material are matched to door weight and cycle rating. For coastal Fresno-area homes with high wind exposure, ES Windows relies on a heavier cable-and-drum assembly that will not accept a big-box-store cable. We stock both OEM ES Windows parts and an aftermarket roller from CWS that matches OEM spec at a lower price point. We also keep PGT and CGI hardware on the shelf for mixed-brand households.

Signs Your ES Windows Impact Garage Doors Are Failing
- Grinding or squealing from the roller track. The nylon bearings in the roller have worn through to the steel core, and that steel is chewing into the track. On impact doors, this usually starts on the roller closest to the motor mount, where the lift force concentrates. Left alone, it will oval the track and turn a $95 roller job into a full track replacement.
- The door pauses or jerks mid-travel. A worn hinge or a fraying cable is changing the door’s geometry as it lifts. Fresno garages that face west see more of this: afternoon heat soaks through the panel and accelerates wear on the hinges that carry the most load.
- Visible fraying or a broken strand on the lift cable. ES Windows impact doors run a heavier cable than standard doors, so a frayed strand is rarely a sudden event. It usually shows up as a fuzzy spot near the drum, and it is a sign the cable has been rubbing against a misaligned drum.
- The bottom seal is cracked, flattened, or coming loose. This is the most common Fresno-specific failure. Our summer heat dries out the rubber, and the seal loses its flex. Once that happens, dust, leaves, and bugs come in under the door. A replacement ES Windows-compatible seal is roughly 5/16-inch T-style, but older doors from before 2015 sometimes take a larger T-channel.
- The door groans when operated manually after pulling the release. That is usually a spring or bearing problem, and it needs a trained eye. See the safety note below.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a Fresno homeowner, here is what we quote, installed:
- Roller replacement (all rollers, nylon bearings): $150 – $240, including labor and a track cleaning.
- Single hinge replacement (OEM ES Windows match): $95 – $140.
- Bottom seal replacement: $110 – $180, depending on width and channel style.
- Cable replacement (pair): $220 – $320, including drum inspection and tension re-set.
- Full roller-and-cable overhaul (recommended at 8 – 10 years): $340 – $420.
Every quote is written before we touch the door, and the number on that quote is the number on the invoice. We do not do open-ended time-and-materials on parts work. The parts are covered by their manufacturer’s warranty, and our labor carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something is not right with the install, we come back and make it right. No debate, no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect the rollers and hinges yourself. Look for flat spots, cracked nylon, or rust, and check the cable for frayed strands near the drum. You can also check the bottom seal for cracks. What you should not do yourself is anything involving the lift springs or the high-tension cable system. The springs on an ES Windows impact door are under enough tension to cause serious injury if released incorrectly. A cable that snaps under load can whip through a garage. This is not the place for a weekend fix.
Fresno homeowners call us for the same two reasons: they want the part matched correctly the first time, and they do not want to be the person who found out how much tension a garage door spring holds. If your door is making noise or moving unevenly, call (559) 272-9650 and we will talk you through what you are seeing before you spend a dollar.
FAQs
Rollers and seals on a Fresno home typically last 5 to 8 years before the heat and dust take their toll; hinges and cables can go 10 to 12 years with regular use. A door facing west or south on an unshaded wall will wear faster. Call (559) 272-9650 if you want us to look at your door’s specific condition.
Seals can sometimes be re-seated, but once a roller bearing or a hinge is worn, repair is not worth doing. The cost of a repair attempt usually lands within $30 of a new part, and the new part lasts years longer. We will tell you straight which one makes sense for your door.
Most single-part replacements, like a hinge or a bottom seal, take 45 minutes to an hour on-site. A full roller-and-cable job takes about two hours. We book parts work in half-day windows so we are not rushing your door, and we clean up before we leave.
We carry the most common ES Windows-compatible rollers, hinges, seals, and cables on the truck. If your door takes an uncommon size, we order it and typically have it within three to five business days. We will tell you which situation you are in before we schedule.
