We stock and install CWS-compatible sliding and patio door parts across Fresno, with most roller, track, and handle-set replacements running between $180 and $480 installed, depending on the CWS series and part type. Most jobs are completed the same day we arrive, because we keep the common CWS wear items on the truck. Owners usually discover the part has failed the same way every time: the door starts to drag, the handle stops throwing the lock, or the panel suddenly feels like it weighs twice what it did last summer.
Fresno heat and dust are hard on sliding doors. The rollers flatten, the tracks fill with silt from the San Joaquin Valley air, and the nylon guides crack in summer after summer of 100-degree afternoons. What starts as a door you lean into becomes a door you have to lift, and lifting it is the moment a small part becomes a bigger repair.
Which CWS Models This Applies To
CWS has produced several sliding patio door lines over the years, and the parts are not all interchangeable. The most common series we work on in Fresno are the CWS 400 and 500 series sliders, along with the later vinyl-framed models that carry a CWS etching in the corner of the glass. The first thing we do on site is check that etching and the manufacturer label on the inside edge of the door panel, because it tells us the exact roller housing, track profile, and handle-set geometry the door was built with.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: CWS changed its roller wheel diameter on certain 500-series doors around 2016. A 1-1/4-inch roller will not sit correctly in the newer track, and a 1-1/2-inch roller will bind the older panel. We measure before we order or install anything, because guessing at this part means a door that still drags after you have paid for the fix. For most CWS sliders, we recommend OEM or an equivalent roller with a sealed stainless bearing and a precise match on the housing width, not a universal roller from a big-box bin. Universal rollers are faster to buy and slower to forgive in Fresno dust.

Signs Your CWS Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or needs a hip-check to move. This is nearly always a flattened or seized roller. Fresno silt works into the bearing, the wheel stops spinning, and the panel begins to grind on the track instead of rolling on it.
- The handle goes up and down but the lock does not throw. The CWS handle-set uses an internal gear and latch bar. Dirt and wear open up the gear teeth, and the lock stops engaging even though the handle feels normal.
- The door lifts as you pull it toward you. This is the roller falling out of the track, often because the bottom adjuster backed out or the housing cracked. A lifting panel is also the warning that the door can jump the track completely.
- You feel a breeze or see dust at the interlock where the two panels meet. CWS interlocks rely on weatherstripping that dries and shrinks in Fresno’s low humidity. Once the seal goes flat, the door leaks air and the dust comes straight in along the center seam.
- The door is suddenly hard to lock from the inside but fine from the outside. The panels settle over time and the strike plate drifts out of alignment. Fixing it is usually a simple realignment, but only if the roller height can still be adjusted.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fresno, most CWS sliding door part replacements we quote run like this:
- Roller assembly, one panel: $180 – $320 installed, depending on whether the panel needs to be pulled and the track cleaned.
- Handle set with lock: $190 – $360 installed, including realigning the strike and testing the throw.
- Complete track and roller replacement: $280 – $480 installed, which includes cleaning the sill channel and dressing the track edges.
- Interlock weatherstripping replacement: $140 – $240 installed per door, including adjusting the interlock so the seal seats evenly.
Every price we give is written, line by line, before any work starts. It covers the part, the labor, the cleanup, and the adjustment after the door goes back in. You will not get a bigger number at the end of the day. The work itself is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, which means if the door drags again or the lock does not feel right, we come back and make it right, no debate.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely do before calling us. Vacuum the bottom track thoroughly, look for a missing or broken roller wheel inside the channel, and check whether the adjuster screws at the bottom of the panel are accessible. Knowing those three things helps us give you a tighter quote over the phone. What you should not do is attempt to lift the sliding panel out of the frame on your own. A CWS sliding panel with reinforced glass can weigh 180 pounds or more, and the panel can drop fast once it clears the track. That is not a warning about your skills. It is a warning about leverage and weight, and we would rather you keep your fingers and your frame intact while we do the lifting.
If the door is dragging, if the lock will not throw, or if the panel lifts when you pull it, call us at (559) 272-9650. We will ask a few questions, give you a straight answer on what it is likely to cost, and schedule a time when the kids are not napping.
FAQs
In Fresno’s dust and heat, you can expect CWS rollers to last 8 to 12 years before the bearings begin to fail. Doors facing west or southwest, which take the full afternoon sun, tend to go through rollers faster than shaded doors. If your door is over 10 years old and starting to drag, the rollers are at the end of their service life. Call (559) 272-9650 and we can confirm it in one visit.
Rollers and handle-sets are replacement parts, not repair parts, because the wear surfaces are internal. Weatherstripping and strike-plate alignment can sometimes be adjusted or reseated, but once a roller wheel is flat or a handle gear is stripped, the fix is a new part installed. We will always tell you which one applies before we touch the door.
Most roller and handle-set replacements take 60 to 90 minutes, including removing the panel, cleaning the track, installing the new part, and testing the door. Complete track replacements can take up to two hours. We work quietly, protect your floors, and have the door sliding correctly before we leave.
We keep the most common CWS roller assemblies, handle-sets, and weatherstripping on the truck and in our Fresno shop. If your door is a less common series or an unusual size, we source the exact part from our CWS supplier network, usually within a few business days. We also stock compatible parts for PGT, CGI, and ES Windows sliding doors.
