We stock and install CGI-compatible sliding and patio door parts across Fresno, with most roller, handle, and lock replacements running between $140 and $420 installed depending on the part and your door’s series. If your door is dragging, sticking, or won’t latch, the fix is usually faster and cheaper than replacing the whole panel. We keep common CGI rollers, handles, and lock components on our trucks, so a service call in Fresno can often be done the same day.
Most owners discover a failing part the hard way: the door gets harder to slide, the handle feels loose, or the lock won’t throw. In Fresno’s dry heat and fine dust, the rollers and track wear faster than anything else. You’ll feel it before you see it, and ignoring the drag turns a simple roller swap into a damaged track and a heavier bill.
Which CGI Models This Applies To
Lightwell Windows Fresno is an independent service provider, not a CGI dealer, but we work with CGI parts daily and know the series well. The compatibility question comes down to three things: your door’s stamp, your roller diameter, and whether you have standard or heavy glass. CGI stamps are usually on a label near the lower corner of the fixed panel or inside the handle escutcheon. You’ll see a series name like Estate, Targa, or the impact-rated Sentry line, plus a manufacturing date code.
The compatibility gotcha most people miss is roller diameter. CGI doors built before roughly 2015 often used a 1-1/4-inch stainless roller with a steel bracket, while the current production uses a 1-1/2-inch tandem roller with a heavier axle to carry impact-rated glass. The two don’t swap. If your glass is thicker than standard or marked with a small impact etching in the corner, you have the heavier panel and need the larger roller. Quality aftermarket rollers from Prime-Line and IvesWork well on non-impact CGI doors, but for Sentry or any impact-rated panel we recommend OEM or OEM-spec parts only. The weight difference is real, and a cheap roller on an impact door will flatten in under a year.

Signs Your CGI Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing
- The door drags or grinds when you slide it. This is almost always a flattened roller, but in Fresno it’s often compounded by dust caked into the wheel bearings. Once a roller stops spinning, it skids and scores the aluminum track.
- The door lifts slightly then thuds back down. That small vertical drop is the roller adjustment screw losing its bite. The door is sitting on the track lip instead of rolling, which is how tracks get gouged and the panel starts eating its own frame.
- The lock won’t throw or the latch strikes high. CGI locks are mortise-style, and they bind when the door sags even a quarter-inch. Before replacing the lock, the door needs to be re-leveled on its rollers, which is a fast on-site job for us and a frustrating rabbit hole for most DIY attempts.
- The handle feels loose but the screws are tight. The internal lever spring inside the handle set has fatigued. On older CGI handles this is a known wear point after heavy daily use, especially with kids pulling down on the handle instead of pulling back.
- You can see daylight under the closed door at one corner. That’s the weatherstrip plus the roller adjustment failing together. In Fresno, a gap like that introduces some house dust and hot air every afternoon, and it means the panel weight is off-center, which shortens the life of every other moving part.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For CGI sliding and patio doors, installed parts in Fresno run from $140 for a basic roller replacement to $420 for a complete handle-and-lock set on an impact-rated panel. Most jobs land between $180 and $280. Track repair, if the aluminum is gouged, adds $80 to $160 on top of that, and some homes need it, because a damaged track will destroy new rollers in months.
Our pricing is written before we touch your door. It includes the part, the labor, adjustment and re-leveling, lubrication of the track, and a check of the weatherstrip and lock alignment while we’re in there. Every part we install is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished work is not right, we make it right with no debate and no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
For a sliding patio door, the highest-tension components are the roller adjustment screws and the panel’s own weight, which on an impact-rated CGI door runs well north of 200 pounds. The honest split: you can safely clean the bottom track with a vacuum and a damp cloth, check for visible grit, and test the lock alignment. If the door is hard to slide, that’s the point to stop and call us, not the point to start pulling the panel.
What we see after DIY attempts is a door wrestled halfway off its track, a floor scratched along the way, and a track bent by a pry bar. Keeping the heavy panel safe and the frame square is a two-person, practiced-lift job. If you’re in Fresno and the door is fighting you, call us at (559) 272-9650. We’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
FAQs
In Fresno’s dry, dusty air, most CGI rollers last 7 to 12 years with regular track cleaning, though the cheap aftermarket versions can flatten in under two. Sun, fine dust, and daily use shorten the number; roller quality and door weight decide most of it.
Yes, and that’s usually the better answer. Rollers, handles, locks, and weatherstrip can all be replaced without changing the door panel or frame. We only recommend replacing the whole door when the frame itself is bent, the glass edge seal has failed, or the track has deep gouges no repair insert can cover.
Most CGI roller and hardware replacements take 60 to 90 minutes on site. Track repair can push the job past two hours. We carry the common parts on the truck, so the first trip is usually the only trip.
We keep a rolling inventory of the most common CGI rollers, handles, and lock sets for Fresno-area homes, plus the same for PGT, CWS, and ES Windows doors. If your door needs an odd series-specific part, we quote the lead time in writing before you commit.
